Stanley F. Michalski (’56 B.S. Music Ed., ''59 Mu. Ed., '66 D. Ed.) coordinator of instrumental music of Charlotte, North Carolina Diocesan Schools and associate conductor of the Winthrop University Carolina Wind Orchestra, will adjudicate the St. Patrick Days Parade, Dublin, Ireland, March 2010. Past President of the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association and the American Bandmasters Association, Michalski is a member of the Bowl Games of America staff which coordinates the half-time music activities of several major bowl games, including the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans. 2010 World Association of Marching Show Band adjudication assignments include Potsdam, Germany and Cheb, Czech Republic. Connie Malamed (’74 B.S. Art Education) has released a new book, Visual Language for Designers: Principles for Creating Graphics That People Understand,
published by Rockport Publishers, US. The book, of interest to art educators, graphic designers, and students of visual communications, explores the hidden language within every picture that conveys a message, wehter it is intented or not. By understanding visual language as the interface between a graphic and a viewer, designers and ilustrators can learn to inform with accuracy and power.[10/09/09]

Maryl Lynne De Jong (’68 M.Ed Art Education) passed away on August 8, 2009. In her 35-year career as an art professor, she taught at Raymond Walters College and Clermont College. She was the recipient of numerous prestigious awards and honors in the field of art education. [8/18/09]
