Arts and Architecture/Performing Arts Alumni Society FAQ
Who or what is the Arts and Architecture
Alumni Society?
We are a group of Alumni Association members who either graduated
from the College of Arts and Architecture, or who participated
in a recognized performing arts group at Penn State, such
as Blue Band, University Choir, Glee Club. We are governed
by a Board
of Directors and are supported by staff members in the
Colleges Alumni Relations office.
What
does the Alumni Society do?
We categorize our activities into three primary areas
service to alumni, service to students, and service to the
college. Within those categories we do a variety of things
from providing financial support for alumni receptions,
to sponsoring the annual Alumni Achievement Awards, to providing
career and professional development consultation for students,
to providing an annual scholarship for an Arts and Architecture
student.
Who
is a member, or how do you become a member?
Membership in the Arts and Architecture Alumni Society is
automatic with your membership in the Penn State Alumni Association.
There are no additional dues.
If
there are no additional dues, how does the college or the
Alumni Society benefit from my Penn State Alumni Association
dues?
We receive annual funding from the Penn State Alumni Association.
The amount the Society receives depends on, among other things,
how many graduates of the college are Alumni Association members,
and how many of our members are Life members of the Association.
More active participation from Arts and Architecture alumni
in the Penn State Alumni Association equates to a larger allocation
to the Alumni Society, which helps us reach more alumni and
students. We also receive extra credit for new Life members.
You can join the Penn State Alumni Association online. If you are choosing Life membership, be sure to include the group code ACY to ensure that the Arts and Architecture Alumni Society receives the appropriate credit.
