Two undergraduate programs and one graduate program in the college require study abroad for completion of those degrees. All architecture and landscape architecture majors spend a semester in Rome (ARCH) (LARCH) and all master of fine arts students in theatre study in London. All other majors in the college are strongly encouraged to study abroad. Penn State has dozens of study abroad programs that offer courses in the arts during the academic year. In addition, the College of Arts and Architecture has developed three summer programs to offer students additional study abroad alternatives. The Department of Integrative Arts sponsors a summer program in Rome. The School of Visual Arts sponsors summer programs in Ireland with the Department of English. The School of Visual Arts also co-sponsors with the Department of Art History a summer program in Todi, Italy, in collaboration with the Department of Italian.
