OFFICE FOR UNDERGRADUATE STUDIES

Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies: Craig Zabel

The Office of the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies provides academic assistance to all undergraduates of the College, maintains academic records on all undergraduates students, certifies completion of degree requirements for all undergraduate students and certifies that graduation requirements have been met, oversees the College Advising Center, manages the course offerings of the summer session, assists department heads and school directors in effecting curricular change within the academic programs of the College, oversees the multicultural programming and minority recruitment efforts of the College, and coordinates a variety of outreach programs of the College, including conferences, workshops, symposia, and distance learning credit and non-credit courses.

Coordinator of DUS Programs and Advising Center: Joane Stoneberg

The advising center is a resource for students and faculty who need information about courses, registration, and University procedures.  Students who either want to change major from the College or into the College can receive information and advising about the choices they are considering.  Students are asked to make appointments through the staff assistants.  Faculty can call the office and ask to talk with Joane Stoneberg or use e-mail (joane@psu.edu) to contact her.

Coordinator, Multicultural Programs:  Curt Marshall

The mission of the Office of Multicultural Programs is to assist the academic units in their recruitment efforts emphasizing the recruitment and retention of underrepresented students, faculty, and staff.  The Office also serves as the liaison with other college diversity representatives, as well as other University units, concerning any diversity issues within the College and the University community. As the number of underrepresented students in the College increases, the office works with the College's Diversity Committee to enhance the academic and social quality of education that all students receive. The exposure to various artistic cultures will give our students a starting point from which they can launch careers that will span a national and international arena.

Coordinator of International Programs: Randy Ploog

Dr. Ploog promotes international awareness in the College of Arts and Architecture.  He informs and advises students of study abroad opportunities.  He is the liaison between the College and the University’s Office of International Programs by serving as a contact person and on advisory committees.  He also assists faculty in the college in developing new study abroad programs.

Dr. Ploog also coordinates college’s international faculty exchange program by facilitating visits by international scholars and artists and preparing Arts and Architecture faculty for their exchanges abroad.  He has recently been made the “person-in-charge” of the International Arts Minor and the instructor of the required foundations course for that minor.
