Faculty Handbook
Academic Freedom
http://www.psu.edu/oldmain/prov/fachand/textonly.html
Faculty are entitled to freedom in their classrooms in discussing subjects. They are, however, responsible for the maintenance of appropriate standards of scholarship and teaching. When faculty speak or write as a member of the community, they are free from institutional censorship or discipline but are expected to remember that the public may judge the profession and institution by your utterances. For further information, see University Policy HR-64, "Academic Freedom," and University Policy AD-47, "General Standards of Professional Ethics."
