Pennsylvania Quintet in Concert

On October 13 at 8:00 p.m. in Esber Recital Hall, the Pennsylvania Quintet will perform a concert. The quintet is comprised of musicians from the Penn State School of Music. Eleanor Duncan-Armstrong teaches flute at the school, Timothy Hurtz teaches oboe, Smith Toulson teaches clarinet, Lisa Bontrager is a professor of horn, and Daryl Durran is professor of bassoon. Aside from the pedagogical duties on their respective instruments, The Pennsylvania Quintet has been concertizing since 1984 at major venues on both sides of the Atlantic. Performances include concerts at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., Carnegie's Weill Recital Hall in New York City, the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, Germany, as well as recitals in Nuremberg and Frankfurt. The Pennsylvania Quintet will perform Sechs Bagatellen by György Ligeti, the Three Shanties by Malcolm Arnold, and also works by Joseph Lamb, Steve Cohen, Mozart, Bach, and Bizet. The concert is free and open to the public.
