Lysle Sherwin Gives Keynote Address at Kansas Watershed Restoration Conference
February 2, 2005
UNIVERSITY PARK, PA--Lysle S. Sherwin, director of the Center for Watershed Stewardship in the Department of Landscape Architecture, was the keynote speaker at the Kansas Watershed Restoration and Protection Strategy conference, January 24-25, 2005, in Topeka, Kansas. The conference was sponsored by the Kansas Department of Health and the Environment.
The topic of Sherwin's presentation was "Pennsylvania Watershed Initiatives: A 30-Year Perspective." He described Pennsylvania's history and extensive capacity for community-based watershed planning (including the Center for Watershed Stewardship's work with Keystone Project student teams), which is lacking in Kansas, although the governor and state agencies are promoting the formation of community initiatives and partnerships.
