Choice Orchestra Seats for Rent Available for $20 each on Jan. 12 Only
January 7, 2005
A limited number of seats in the front two rows of the orchestra section will be available on Wednesday, Jan. 12, at $20 each for that evening’s performance of Rent at Penn State’s Eisenhower Auditorium.
The $20 tickets go on sale at the Arts Ticket Center in Eisenhower on the University Park campus at 5:30 p.m.–two hours before Rent’s curtain time–on Jan. 12. The tickets are available on a first-come basis to the public. They must be paid for with cash, and each person may buy a maximum of two tickets.
The Pulitzer and Tony® Award-winning musical–which includes mature themes and language–is about a year in the life of eight young friends who embrace alternative lifestyles, struggle with addiction, fight commercialization, tangle relationships and endure in the New York City’s East Village.
“In keeping with the spirit of the show and the vision of Jonathan Larson [the show’s late creator], we are happy to be able to offer prime seats to people who otherwise would not be able to purchase them,” says original Rent producer Kevin McCollum. “Jonathan was himself a struggling artist and his dream was to create a universal piece of musical theater that’s available to everyone.”
Richard Robert Brown sponsors the performance. QWK Rock 97 is the media sponsor. Artistic Viewpoints, sponsored by the Center for the Performing Arts Community Advisory Council, provides insight from an artist or expert perspective and is offered free to interested ticket holders in the Eisenhower Auditorium Conference Room one hour before the performance.
