Jury Recognition Recital
January 12, 2005
On Saturday, January 22, the Jury Recognition Recital will be held in Esber Recital Hall. This tradition at the School of Music serves to both recognize and award those students who performed an exceptional Jury the preceding semester. The students are all undergraduate music majors, and are usually performance, education, or composition degree candidates. All music majors play a Jury, and the panel of faculty members listening to the Juries chooses those students who are rewarded with the opportunity to play in this recital.
In this recital, Christina Palermo will play Ransom by Mark Ford on Marimba. Andrew Walker will perform Henri Tomasi's Concerto for Saxophone. Mollie Vogt-Welch, soprano, will sing a song by Charles Gounod. Justin Fyala, baritone, will sing a song by Jean-Baptiste Lully. Kenneth Cox will play Camille Saint-Säens Violin Concerto. Amanda Collins will perform Paul Dukas' Villanelle pour Cor for horn and natural horn. Thomas Ovens will play a double bass Concerto by Edouard Nanny. Henry Valoris will perform Paul Hindemith's Suite for Solo Viola. Gabriel Acevedo will perform on cello and Vicki Youlio will perform on trumpet. Brandon Aldinger will play a Scherzo for piano by Frederic Chopin. Amanda Horn will perform Ludwig van Beethoven's Sonata in E-flat Major for piano. This recital is free and open to the public.
