Faculty Horn Recital

Lisa O. Bontrager, and John H. Gerber, natural horn will present a concert on Wednesday, April 6 at 8:00 p.m. in Eisenhower Chapel. They will be assisted by Kathy Gattuso Cinatl, piano and Chrisopher Naugle, horn. The concert will begin with variations for piano and horn from the opera Der Augenarzt by Nikolaus von Krufft. Other works in the concert will include the "Second Sonata in F Major" by Luigi Cherubini. Two trios by Anton Reicha will conclude the first half. The final portion of the concert will feature the "Concerto for Two Horns and Orchestra" by Stephen Edward Gerber. This work was premiered at PSU in 2001.

Stephen Gerber's symphonic music has been performed by the Cincinnati Symphony, Milwaukee Symphony and Porto Allegre (Brazil) Symphony, among others. His interest in arts education lead him to write the libretto for Suite Dreams! premiered by the Boston Symphony with Nancy Hoffmann as Narrator. He has worked as musical director and arranger in Europe, Mexico and Canada, and has served on the executive board of the Music Publishers Association of the United States. This concert is free and open to the public.
