Penn State Percussion and Mallet Ensembles Present Concert

The Penn State Percussion and Mallet Ensemble program, under the direction of Professor Dan C. Armstrong, will present a concert on Monday, November 28 at 8 p.m. in Esber Recital Hall, Music Building I. The Mallet Ensemble will open the concert with performances of a marimba quartet by Michael Burritt, an arrangement of Bartok's Rumanian Folk Dances, and an arrangement of the traditional hymn tune, "Just A Closer Walk With Thee." Christina Palermo, senior in music education, will be the featured xylophone soloist in a performance of "Jovial Jasper" by George H. Green. The Penn State Percussion Ensemble II, conducted by Graduate Teaching Assistant Scott Kemerer, will perform "Loose Change" by Putnam, "O' Sacred Head" by Bach, and "Four on the Floor" by Peyton in addition to other works. The concert will conclude with a performance by The Penn State Percussion Ensemble 1 featuring senior in music education Sam Foulger as drum set soloist. Foulger is the drummer for the Centre Dimensions jazz ensemble. The concert will be free and open to the public.
