October 26, 2005

The Oriana Singers of Penn State University, conducted by Lynn Drafall, will celebrate their tenth anniversary with a concert on Saturday, November 12 at 8 p.m. in the Worship Hall of the Pasquerilla Spiritual Center. The current Oriana Singers' members will open the concert with a performance of Ramona Luengen's "Celebremus" and then follow with Galuppi's "Dixit Dominus" led by assistant conductor Eric Brinser. "Discantus", a chamber choir consisting of Oriana Singers' members and conducted by undergraduate conducting intern Erik Clayton, will then follow by performing a set of sacred and secular pieces by Johannes Brahms. Alumna of the Oriana Singers will join the current membership for the second half of the program which will feature favorite repertoire from the past ten years including: Pablo Casal's "Nigra Sum", "He's Gone Away" arranged by Ron Nelson, and the spiritual "Hold On" arranged by Clifton J. Noble. A reception for alumna will follow the performance. Tickets are available at the door and are $4 for general public and $2 for students.
