"A Tribute to Composer Jule Styne"

Kimberly Daniel DeAcha, soprano, assisted by Kathy Kozak, piano, will perform "A Tribute to Composer Jule Styne" on Saturday, October 1 at 8 p.m. in Esber Recital Hall, Music Building I on the University Park Campus. The concert will feature songs from Styne's musical theatre shows Bells are Ringing, Peter Pan, Funny Girl, Gypsy, Do Re Mi, Two on the Aisle, and Subways are for Sleeping. DeAcha will also be performing hit tunes from the silver screen, including Oscar winner Three Coins in the Fountain. The concert was created by DeAcha and Kozak to honor the 100th anniversary of Jule Styne's birth and will be free and open to the public.

Kimberly Daniel DeAcha is a faculty member of the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida. She has been on stage for nearly fifty years singing musical theatre, opera, cabaret, pop, classical and country. Her national credits include Wolf Trap Farm Park, North Shore Music Theatre, National Symphony Orchestra, Lincoln Center, and Yale Repertory Theatre which have been directed by conductors ranging from Leonard Bernstein to Max Rudolf. Her television and radio credits include the Mike Douglas Show, as well as appearances on ABC, NBC and CBS television. With her husband Rafael DeAcha, she co-founded New Theatre in Coral Gables, Florida--now in its 20th year--which is listed as one of the 50 Best Theatres in America by the New York Drama Guild. Kimberly Daniel DeAcha has received numerous awards for her work, including being recognized five times by the National Foundation for the Advancement of the Arts and receiving a regional first prize as well as a Kathryn Long Fellowship Award, both from the Metropolitan Opera.

Kathy Kozak is visiting Assistant Professor of the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami. She serves as the interim co-director of the Opera Theatre as well as coach for the Department of Vocal Performance. Kozak is also the head of staff for pianists at the UM Summer in Salzburg, a program for singers and pianists. She has served on the music staffs of the Florida Grand Opera, the Berkshire Opera and the Santa Fe Opera. Kozak has been an audition pianist for The Lincoln Center Festival, an associate coach for the Juilliard School of Music and is also a popular recital collaborator in the South Florida area.
