Center for the Performing Arts publications, including event programs, now online
September 27, 2005
Just in time for the beginning of its 2005-2006 season of professional dance, music and theater presentations, the Center for the Performing Arts at Penn State now offers online access to its printed publications–including OnStage event programs and the quarterly newsletter PreViews. To download the publications, visit www.cpa.psu.edu and click on publications.
The online availability allows patrons who have tickets for an upcoming performance–or people considering buying tickets to an event–to read OnStage as much as a week before the presentation takes place live on the stage of University Park Eisenhower or Schwab auditorium.
Editions of OnStage for the Sept. 27 and 28 performances of the touring Broadway musical Thoroughly Modern Millie are already available on the Center for the Performing Arts Web site. Event programs for each of the center's remaining 26 presentations through April 2006 will be uploaded at least one week before each performance.
The site also now includes the Autumn 2005 issue of PreViews, which provides comprehensive coverage of Tokyo String Quartet and Panetti, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Diavolo dance theater (Oct. 12), pianist and conductor Philippe Entremont with the Munich Symphony Orchestra (Oct. 26), cellist David Finckel and pianist Wu Han (Nov. 3), and Ballet Flamenco José Porcel (Nov. 10). PreViews also contains articles about community support and a column by George Trudeau, the center's director.
Three additional issues of PreViews, each covering a segment of the 2005-2006 season, will be added to the site in November, January and March.
"The addition of OnStage to our Web site allows us to provide our patrons and interested ticket buyers with program notes, cast biographies, production numbers and as much background as possible before each event," says Laura Sullivan, the center's director of marketing and communications. "Having PreViews online gives those considering a ticket purchase a more in-depth look at the performance than what we're able to provide in our season brochure. These additional materials could be the deciding factor for someone who might be on the fence about attending."
Additional downloadable publications include this season's series subscription, group sales, informances for schools and development brochures. The fall 2005 Curriculum Connections, a resource for Penn State faculty, and the application for event staff volunteers are also available.
A link to obtain the Adobe Acrobat Reader plugin, which is required to read and download each publication, is available on the center Web site.
