Guest Cellist Presents Recital

Dr. Patricia Johnson will present a guest artist recital Friday, November 10 at 5 p.m. in Esber Recital Hall, Music Building I. Dr. Johnson was born in Salvador, Bahia in Brazil, and started her musical studies with her father, cellist Juarez Johnson. Her debut as a soloist took place at the age of 14. She studied with Aldo Parisot as a special student at Yale University, Hannah Sherman at the Longy School of Music in Boston, Fred Pot in the Koninklijk Conservatorium in Dan Haag Netherlands, Phyllis Young at the University at Austin in Texas and Ross Harbaugh at the University of Miami, where she finished the course of Doctor of Musical Arts. Dr. Johnson has performed under the baton of the following conductors: Carlos Veiga, Eleazar de Carvalho, Aylton Escobar, Pino Onnis and Isaac Karabtchevsky. She debuted the Claude Bolling trio in Brazil and has played many recitals in her native country as well as in the USA. Dr. Johnson is currently part of the faculty of the Federal University of Pernambuco, Brazil, as teacher of the superior course.
