Palmer Museum of Art - September 2007 Calendar of Events

FIRST THURSDAYS
First Thursday events are open to art lovers of all ages and are held in conjunction with First Thursday State College programs, sponsored by the Downtown State College Improvement District. Join us on the first Thursday of every month to enjoy a film, musical performance, gallery talk, hands-on activity, or other art-related event. OPEN HOUSE AND FIRST THURSDAY
Film: Who the #$&% is Jackson Pollock?
Join the museum at our inaugural open house for Penn State students. From 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., enjoy pizza and music outside on the plaza and participate in the Art Scene Investigation sleuthing activity in the galleries. Prizes are available for all who finish the investigation! Enjoy the film Who the #$&% is Jackson Pollock? at 7:00 p.m. in the Palmer Lipcon Auditorium. Don't miss out! Galleries are open.

As You Like It by Bob Schmalz, Palmer Museum docent
You want it, you get it! This semester, the Palmer initiates a series of guided tours featuring works of art that you select. As You Like It will be part of the regular Friday Gallery Talk series and will also be available on home football Saturdays (times to be determined according to kickoff).

September 9 - SUNDAY, 1:00 P.M.
FILM
Who the #$&% is Jackson Pollock? (2006, 74 minutes)
This HBO film documents a small-town truck driver's battle with the art-word establishment as she wheels and deals with art critics, forensic experts, and collectors in an attempt to prove her $5 thrift-shop paintings is an original Jackson Pollock canvas.

September 19

A CELEBRATION OF BAROQUE ART AND MUSIC
THE ART OF MUSIC SERIES
The Palmer Museum of Art celebrates the donation of a new baroque painting to its permanent collection, Giovanni Baglione's St. Sebastian Healed by an Angel. In honor of this gift, The Art of Music series will feature baroque music and song performed by faculty and students from Penn State's School of Music.

The Palmer Museum of Art and College of Arts and Architecture join Penn State in welcoming friends and family to our campus on Saturday, September 29. We will offer art activities, gallery talks, refreshments, music, and more from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Stop by and see what the museum has in store for you!
