College of Arts and Architecture Summer 2007 Student Marshal

Courtney Noonan, daughter of Deborah Noonan of Denver, Pa., and Frank Noonan of Myerstown, Pa., has been named the summer 2007 student marshal for the Penn State College of Arts and Architecture. The title of marshal is awarded to the student who has earned the highest overall grade-point average in the college. Noonan will earn a bachelor of fine arts in art with an emphasis on painting.
A Schreyer Honors College scholar and member of Phi Beta Kappa, Noonan received the President’s Freshman Award for achieving a 4.0 grade-point average. She received a Schreyer Honors Thesis Grant for her thesis, “Patterns of the Universe,” and was awarded the Margaret Giffen Schoenfelder Memorial Scholarship (2007) in recognition of an exceptional fourth-year student studying painting. Noonan studied abroad in Italy where she took drawing, art history and Italian classes. She has been involved in the Penn State Equestrian Team and Swing Dancing Club.
Noonan plans to pursue a career in visual arts and teaching at the university level.
