Architecture Series Lecture by Archi-Techtonics Principal Winka Dubbeldam
March 5, 2007
Winka Dubbeldam, principal architect at Archi-Techtonics, New York, N.Y., will give a free public lecture titled "From HardWare to SoftForm" at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21, in 101 Stuckeman Family Building.
Archi-Techtonics’ work ranges from residential to commercial, from real to virtual, and is recognized in urban designs, architectures and installations. The studio operates like a laboratory where the firm analyzes and researches programmatic efficiencies, urban specificities, and material innovations, and is interested in the use of hybrid materials and smart building systems. The use of three-dimensional computer modeling assists in creating spaces that are intelligent registration of force fields, smart systems and programmatic mappings. This presentation will explore these topics and relationships in the context of the practice’s recent work.
Dubbeldam is a graduate of the Academy of Architecture in Rotterdam (1990), and received a M.S. in advanced architectural design from Columbia University in 1992. She has taught in the master’s programs at Columbia University and Harvard University and is currently director of the post-professional program at the University of Pennsylvania.
