Theatre Students Recognized for Achievement in Theatre Technology

Three Penn State theatre students received awards from the United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT) at the Kennedy Center American College Regional Festival in January. They include: Clare Caradoni, Regional Award of Excellence in Costume Design for Frog and Toad; Justin Couchara, Honorable Mention for Scenic Design for Frog and Toad; Patricia Cardona, Honorable Mention for Sound Design for The Big Friendly Giant.
Also, John Jacobsen, president of the Penn State USITT Student Chapter, received the USITT Lighting Design Award, sponsored by Stage Technology. Jacobsen was also awarded an USITT Ohio Valley Section 2007 Conference scholarship.
USITT is the association of design, production, and technology professionals in the performing arts and entertainment industry. USITT@PSU is the largest and most active student chapter in the nation, participating in activites on campus and in the community.
Started in 1969, the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF) is a national theater program involving 18,000 students from colleges and universities nationwide, which has served as a catalyst in improving the quality of college theater in the United States. In January and February of each year, regional festivals showcase the finest of each region's entered productions and offer a variety of activities, including workshops, symposia and regional-level award programs.
