March 21, 2007
Singer-songwriter Red Grammer performs contemporary children's music with uplifting themes, innovative lyrics and irresistible melodies in a concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 1, in Penn State's Eisenhower Auditorium. In BeBop Your Best!, the Grammy-nominated recording artist encourages children to solve problems, embrace diversity, live up to their potential and have fun along the way.
"Red's energy and enthusiasm are contagious," notes a writer for FamilyFun magazine. "Teaching without preaching Red Grammer knows how to entertain," adds a USA Today reviewer.

Grammer's music has a universal appeal that transcends generations, backgrounds, ethnicity and religions. The ideas percolating in his music come from a belief that children are intelligent, inquisitive and born to learn to work together and understand each other.
Grammer, who began his performing career by succeeding Glenn Yarborough as the lead tenor in the folk trio The Limeliters, and his co-lyricist wife Kathy Grammer have created a cornucopia of good music for families and classrooms. His recordings are widely used in schools to enrich conflict resolution and character education programs.
Teaching Peace, one of his six CDs for youngsters, was named by the All Music Guide as "one of the top five children's recordings of all time." Other titles include Can You Sound Just Like Me?, Down the Do Re Mi, Red Grammer's Favorite Sing Along Songs, Hello World and BeBop Your Best! He's also released a concert DVD and two albums for adults.
In addition to performing around the world, Grammer has appeared on numerous American TV programs and networks, including Today, CBS This Morning, Nickelodeon, Showtime, PBS and The Disney Channel. He has also served as a speaker and performer at national and regional educational conferences in the United States and Canada.
McQuaide Blasko Attorneys at Law sponsors the performance. Radio station Froggy 98 is the media sponsor. Kidz Connections, which begins in Eisenhower Auditorium one hour before the show and is open to ticket holders, includes activities for the littlest audience members. Children can write their own lyrics to traditional melodies and sing the songs with local singer-guitarists. Snack and juice provided.
