October 15, 2007
The College of Arts and Architecture and the Solar Decathlon Team are sponsoring four daylong bus trips to visit the team’s MorningStar Pennsylvania home in the “Solar Village” on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. The trips are scheduled for Friday, October 12; Saturday, October 13; Thursday, October 18; and Friday, October 19 (Decathlon Awards Ceremony).
Busses will leave from the State College bus station (152 N. Atherton St.) at 7:30 a.m., followed by a pick-up at the Stuckeman Family Building in Green Lot D (departing 7:50 a.m.), and will leave Washington, D.C. at 6:00 p.m. to return to State College and University Park.
The Solar Decathlon, hosted by the U.S. Department of Energy, is an unparalleled biennial contest in which 20 rigorously selected international university teams compete in the design, construction and operation of a 100 percent solar-powered home on the National Mall. An interdisciplinary team of Penn State students, faculty and staff from across the University has been working on this project since January 2006. The Solar Village is open to the public October 12–20.
The bus trips are $10/person. Sign up in 104 Engineering Unit A with exact change or a check payable to Penn State.
