Massachsetts Sculptor and Curator to Give Public Lecture

Peter Dudek, director of the Storefront Artist Project in Pittsfield, Mass., will give a free public lecture at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 6, in the Palmer Lipcon Auditorium, Palmer Museum of Art. Dudek’s lecture is sponsored by the Penn State School of Visual Arts’ John M. Anderson Visiting Artists and Scholars Lecture Series.
Dudek is the founder of Archicule, a group of artists who have developed an interest in architecture and design and/or built houses, furniture, and other functional forms. Dudek’s most recent solo exhibitions were held at Smack Mellon and Studio Facchetti in Brooklyn, N.Y., and he exhibited in group shows at Ferrin Gallery, Pittsfield, Mass.; Arts Center, St. Petersburg, Fla.; Hudson Valley Community College, Troy, N.Y.; and ICA, Philadelphia, Pa. He has curated exhibitions at Gallery 51, North Adams, Mass., and Makor Gallery, New York City.
Born in Adams, Mass., Dudek received a B.F.A., cum laude, in 1977 from the School of Visual Arts and a M.A. from Hunter College in 1982, both in New York City. He was a recipient of a Marie Walsh Sharpe Grant and served a sculpture residence in Orosko, Poland. In 2007, he received a New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) Fellowship in Sculpture. Dudek is an adjunct assistant professor at Hunter College, sculpture instructor at the School of Visual Arts and a visiting lecturer at the State Univeristy of New York (SUNY) in Albany.
