Shop at Barnes & Noble March 30 to benefit Center for the Performing Arts
March 26, 2008
The Center for the Performing Arts at Penn State is partnering with the State College Barnes & Noble Booksellers, at 365 Benner Pike across from the Nittany Mall, to raise funds and promote an upcoming presentation of TheatreworkUSA's musical adaptation of Junie B. Jones. A percentage of purchases made at Barnes & Noble with a bookfair voucher from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, March 30, will be donated to the Center for the Performing Arts.
The March 30 bookfair also includes a Junie B. Jones-related activity scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Benner Pike location. Register to win four free tickets to the Junie B. Jones performance at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 6, in Penn State's Eisenhower Auditorium. No purchase is necessary to enter.
A Barnes & Noble bookfair is an opportunity for schools and nonprofit literacy and arts organizations to raise money through in-store sales by encouraging supporters to shop at the store during a designated time period. The amount of money raised by the Center for the Performing Arts–between 10 percent and 20 percent–is determined by the total purchases made by organization supporters on that date.
Recipients of the Center for the Performing Arts Arts Insider listserve will receive printable vouchers with the bookfair identification number by e-mail. Vouchers are available to download from the Center for the Performing Arts Web site at www.cpa.psu.edu. Vouchers are also available at Arts Ticket Center locations in Eisenhower Auditorium, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays; Penn State Tickets Downtown in the Penn State Downtown Theatre Center, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday; and HUB-Robeson Center, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays.
The purchase of Barnes & Noble gift cards and membership cards are not included in bookfair totals. The Barnes & Noble discount-purchasing program may not be applied to bookfair purchases.
