Penn State M.F.A. First-Year Actors to Present Rock Star

Octoer 8, 2009

The Penn State School of Theatre first-year M.F.A. actors will be making their mainstage acting debut with a free presentation of Rock Star, Friday, October 16, at 5:30 p.m., in the Citizen's Bank Theatre on Allen Street in downtown State College.

The premise for Rock Star is that a tour bus, bringing together a Once-in-a-Lifetime combination of Rock Stars to State College, breaks down on the road. How to keep the fans from turning into an angry mob? The Penn State graduate actors come to the rescue when they attempt to "fill in" for the absent Stars. Each Penn actor must personify his or her Star's character and mannerisms, "become" the Rock Star, and engage and convince the audience.

Previous performances of Rock Star have been played to standing-room-only crowds. In the past there have been memorable performances by such talents as Elvis Presley, Cher, Axl Rose, Annie Lennox, Bobby Brown, Janis Joplin, Little Richard, and Joe Cocker-to name a few.

Rock Star is free and open to the public. No tickets required. First come first served.
