School of Music Discounts The Penn State School of Music announces its fall concert season with a 40 percent off special. Buy your tickets for School of Music concerts at Eisenhower and Schwab auditoriums in advance and save 40 percent. Avoid standing in a long line at the box office, help the School of Music start concerts on time, and save. No limit on the number of tickets available with this discount. Ticket are available at the Eisenhower Box Office [814-863-0255 or 1-800-ARTS-TIX] or online at www.cpa.psu.edu. Prices vary ($8 adult/$4 student for most ensemble concerts; $15 adult/$6 student for Mosaic and opera). The discount is available up to one hour prior to concerts and does not apply to Bandorama.

Violinist Eugene Drucker, a founding member of the Emerson String Quartet, is also an active soloist. He has appeared with the orchestras of Montreal, Brussels, Antwerp, Liege, Austin, Hartford, Richmond, Toledo, Memphis, Omaha, Anchorage and the Rhineland-Palatinate, as well as with the American Symphony Orchestra and Aspen Chamber Symphony.
A graduate of Columbia University and the Juilliard School, where he studied with Oscar Shumsky, Mr. Drucker was concertmaster of the Juilliard Orchestra, with which he appeared as soloist several times. He made his New York debut as a Concert Artists Guild winner in the fall of 1976, after having won prizes at the Montreal Competition and the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels.
Mr. Drucker has recorded the complete unaccompanied works of Bach, recently reissued by Parnassus Records, and the complete sonatas and duos of Bartok for Biddulph Recordings. His novel, The Savior, was published by Simon & Schuster in July 2007 and has recently appeared in paperback. Eugene Drucker lives in New York with his wife, cellist Roberta Cooper, and their son Julian.

Essence of Joy will present its annual Fall Campus Concert on Sunday, October 18, at 2 p.m. in Esber Recital Hall. The program will include works composed and/or arranged by Moses Hogan, Lela Anderson, Mattie Robertson, Ulysses Kay, Raymond Wise, Ben Allaway, Donald Lawrence, Kurt Carr, Keith Williams, Richard Smallwood, Percy Bady, Glenn Burleigh and V. Michael McKay. Members of the Essence of Joy Alumni Singers will also participate in this event. Anthony Leach, associate professor of music/music education and Penn State Laureate Professor is the music director for Essence of Joy. (Ticket Required: $4.99 adult/$2 student available at the door one hour before the performance).
