School of Music Discounts The Penn State School of Music announces its fall concert season with a 40 percent off special. Buy your tickets for School of Music concerts at Eisenhower and Schwab auditoriums in advance and save 40 percent. Avoid standing in a long line at the box office, help the School of Music start concerts on time, and save. No limit on the number of tickets available with this discount. Ticket are available at the Eisenhower Box Office [814-863-0255 or 1-800-ARTS-TIX] or online at www.cpa.psu.edu. Prices vary ($8 adult/$4 student for most ensemble concerts; $15 adult/$6 student for Mosaic and opera). The discount is available up to one hour prior to concerts and does not apply to Bandorama.

Music for Winds, Brass, and Percussion, Sunday, October 25, 5:00 p.m., Esber Recital Hall
Fifty students from the School of Music will be performing a variety of music for winds, brass, and percussion. The concert will celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Gustav Holst's First Suite in E-flat as well as the 50th Anniversary of the birth of Motown in Detroit. The performance will be conducted by Avi Mehta, graduate student of music (conducting) under the mentoring of Dennis Glocke, associate professor of music.

Penn State 2009 Single Reed Summit, Friday and Saturday, October 30 and 31, various locations including Esber Recital Hall, Music Buildings I and II. Hosted by Anthony Costa, professor of clarinet and David Stambler, professor of saxophone, the event will feature clarinetists and saxophonists in solo recitals, concerto performances with wind ensemble, master classes, clinics, and a performance competition. Artists include Capitol Quartet, the Prestige Clarinet Quartet and composer John Anthony Lennon. MirrorImage: Horn Duo Faculty Recital, Sunday, November 1, 8:00 p.m., Esber Recital Hall.
MirrorImage, horn duo featuring Michelle Stebleton and Lisa Bontrager with Tomoko Kamanaru, piano, will present works from their upcoming compact disc project, “Safari.” The concert will include commissions for the ensemble by Paul Basler, Ray Chase, and Larry Lowe, in addition to several opera arrangements by Ray Chase, which have been recorded on the ensemble’s recent compact disc release, “MirrorImage at the Opera,” on MSR Classics.

Her pianist will be Svetlana Rodionova.
